Fizzy Mermaid Bath Sprinkles Recipe - Easier to Make Than Bath Bombs!

Mermaid inspired DIY bath bombs

These delightful mermaid-inspired bath fizzy sprinkles are easier to make than a bath bomb but just as fun to use!

Instead of having to make sure your moisture balance is just right for packing the fizzing bath bombs into molds, the fizzy bath sprinkles get the same bath-time effect but with less work and a larger margin of error.

If you have kids who love mermaids, they will love these mermaid-inspired bath sprinkles.

Just sprinkle the dry bath sprinkles over a warm tub of water for a fun and fizzy experiment!

The essential oil blend I used for this bath fizz is soothing and calming.

You may find after a soak in a warm bath with the "sweet slumber" scent that your kids are ready to snuggle in and go to bed more calmly than normal.

Let me know how it goes for you!

How to Make Fizzy Bath Sprinkles:

How to Make Bath Fizz Step 1:

In a medium-sized mixing bowl, carefully whisk together the baking soda, citric acid, and cornstarch.

How to Make Bath Fizz Step 2:

Add in the drops of Sweet Slumber essential oil blend.

Don't have that? Plain lavender essential oil will work in a pinch.

Use a whisk to mix it into the dry ingredients.

How to Make Bath Fizz Step 3:

Slowly start to mix in the bubble bath a teaspoon at a time.

Pour just a little bit in at a time and mix thoroughly to help make sure you have an even moisture level.

I find mixing it with a gloved hand works the best.

Keep adding a little bubble bath at a time until you can squeeze the mixture together and it will hold its shape.

It's ok if you don't end up using the full amount called for in the recipe.

How to Make Bath Fizz Step 4:

Crumble the mixture into small pieces and chunks onto a baking sheet and let air dry for a few hours.

    1. For sure! And have you ever been working on a bath bomb recipe and you realized it has too much moisture and is kind of expanding instead of staying put in the mold? You can just decide it's going to be bath fizz sprinkles and spread the mix out to dry on a cookie sheet like I do here instead.

  5. Hi! Can you add colouring to these?

    1. Hi, Amy! You sure can. If it's powdered coloring just mix it in with the dry ingredients before adding the bubblebath. If it's a liquid coloring, mix the coloring into the bubble bath before mixing it with the dry ingredients.

  6. Do these sprinkles melt in water? Hate to give these to someone and it discolor the tub or worse clog their drain. Thanks

    1. That's a great question. These sprinkles do dissolve in water over the course of the bath. If you are worried the intended recipient may not take a long enough or a warm enough bath to let these specific sprinkles dissolve, you can try a smaller sprinkle like these pretty sugar stars which are tiny and will dissolve much faster

  8. I’m wondering about finding a gentle bubble bath as the link for the one in recipe is just for the essential oil.

    1. Thank you for letting me know that link isn't working! It looks like the Sweet Slumber bubble bath has been discontinued but I think another gentle bubble bath like Babo Botanicals Lavender and Meadowsweet Bubblebath would be a great substitute.
